Small groups have played an integral part in our church life since the start of Glenwood in 1977. Initially the church members were split into two house groups in different locations on the Llanedeyrn Estate. The primary aims of the groups were to provide pastoral care for church members, as well as to be a place for weekly Bible study and prayer. We now have around 15 small groups. Bible study and prayer still play an important part in these groups, as do pastoral support, social activities and a sense of fellowship. In a large church like Glenwood, small groups are an excellent way of getting to know at least a dozen people really well and making church more personal to you. Small groups also provide a forum whereby personal issues can be shared and prayed for in a caring and supportive environment. It is our policy at Glenwood that wherever possible everyone attending the church on a regular basis, and who would like to become a member, should join a small group. For more information on our membership policies, see the section entitled ‘Welcome Meal’.
